Thailand

I lost count of how many times I've been to Thailand... thinking about it, I'd say three times by plane and once overland, by bus from Cambodia. Each time, however, was a unique emotion! ✨

Thailand truly offers it all: breathtaking landscapes, ancient culture, activities for every taste, crystal-clear sea, and surprising wildlife.

Family trip

Among all the trips, the one I hold closest to my heart is the journey with my parents: their first time on an intercontinental flight… alone! I was departing from Bali and they from Bologna. They had more fun than ever, confirming that Thailand is truly a destination suitable for all ages and travel styles.

Our itinerary together was a perfect mix: temples in Bangkok and Ayutthaya, nature and elephants in Chiang Mai (but be careful: always be wary of anyone offering elephant rides or baths; it's exploitation – write to me if you want advice on ethical and sustainable centers!), and finally sea and colorful fish in Koh Samui. All of this, of course, was complemented by the famous Thai massages, which can truly be found on every corner!

Food for all tastes

One aspect that impressed us? My mom, who is a pescatarian, had no trouble always finding delicious and balanced dishes, proof of how varied and inclusive Thai cuisine can be.

💡Fun fact: did you know that in Thailand bars and restaurants cannot serve alcohol before 5:00 PM and outside of lunchtime (from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM)? A rule designed to prevent excess and public disturbances.

Architecture

One curiosity that makes Thailand truly unique is that it is the only country in Southeast Asia that has never been colonized. This is still reflected today in many aspects: from the architecture, which retains its own and recognizable style, to the mentality of the people, deeply connected to Buddhism. Unlike other neighboring countries, strong Christian or Western influences are not perceived here: spirituality, golden temples, and daily rituals are an integral part of everyday life and help create the special atmosphere that characterizes Thailand.
